Huge European club have now “approached” Liverpool about significant transfer – journalist

Ronald Araujo’s cult hero status at Liverpool is growing all the time, and now a big update has emerged regarding a permanent move from Barcelona.

The Uruguayan is only on loan from Barca currently, but many Reds supporters want him to stay for good next summer, with former scout Mick Brown confident about that happening:

“Liverpool will already be working on that deal to sign Araujo on a permanent deal, it’s already happening. When you get a player like that on loan and he hits the ground running, the immediate inclination is to make sure you have everything lined up behind the scenes.

“So that’s what Liverpool will be doing now, because the manager has liked what he has seen from him so far, especially after that display against Brighton.

“They’ll obviously keep a close eye on how he gets on for the rest of the season, and a decision will be made before the summer, but they want to have it lined up already. Araujo has been terrific, he’s become a very important player for Liverpool, and if he continues to impress as he has been, then he is highly likely to stay permanently.”

Now, TEAMtalk‘s Graeme Bailey has taken to X to provide the latest on Araujo’s situation, saying Barca have been in contact with Liverpool about selling him permanently:

“Barcelona have approached Liverpool about turning Ronald Araujo’s loan move into a permanent transfer in January, with the Spanish giants keen to secure his departure and raise funds for their own defensive recruitment.”

Is Ronald Araujo’s move to Liverpool a given?

Araujo has become such a crowd favourite at Liverpool already, not only because of his character, but also due to the quality he has produced both on and off the ball.

At this point, making his move permanent at the end of the season is a no-brainer, unless his form suddenly deserts him for a sustained period of time.

Araujo is still only 27, so he is in his peak years, and while the reported £47.1m to sign him isn’t cheap, he can be an experienced and versatile option for the next four or five years.

The Uruguay international will again be an important figure when Liverpool host champions Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, with his solidity at right-back vital.
