Hearts boss Wouter Vrancken reacted to a post about Rangers manager Derek McInnes after the incident between the duo at Tynecastle.
Hearts and Rangers played out a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night, and after the full-time whistle, both managers had a rather uncharacteristic exchange that was seen live on Sky Sports.
Rather than a customary handshake, it seemed like there was some animosity between the two of them, and words were exchanged beyond the usual pleasantries.
Vrancken shared a post on his Instagram story that called McInnes an embarrassment for what he did in the aftermath of the game. It criticised the Rangers manager for his post-match comments, using words like “ridiculous” and “self-entitled.”
In their view, the 55-year-old made it all about himself and praised the Hearts manager for not reacting to the situation. They believe that Vrancken put the Gers boss in his place.
However, despite his post-match comments about things being okay between the two, Vrancken just cannot help himself and continues to fuel the fire. Had he been done with it, he would not have reacted to that post with a laughing emoji on his story.
A lot has been made about Dujon Sterling’s late miss that could have given the Light Blues the three points, but it was not a game in which they were the better team. Despite taking the lead in the first half, they struggled and were fortunate to not concede in the first 45 minutes.
Ahead of the game, if McInnes had been offered a draw from a hostile visit to Tynecastle, he would have taken it. Both sides had chances to win the game, but a draw was a fair result.
It also gave the Gers manager a good idea of how his side copes with adversity, and that could reflect in his team changes on Saturday against Aberdeen.
