Usain Bolt, world record holder in the 100 and 200 meters, congratulated Cristiano Ronaldo on his career with the Portuguese national team on the day he announced his farewell from it, and he did so with an image from the visit both athletes made to the MARCA newsroom in 2009.

The Jamaican congratulated Cristiano on social media "on your retirement from international football. You made us all fans." And he accompanied the tweet with the photograph of an arm wrestle they settled in the newspaper.

That year, 2009, was the year of the signing of the Portuguese footballer by Real Madrid from Manchester, while Usain Bolt had just been crowned world champion in the 100 and 200, with included world records that are still standing, and in the 4x100.

Both athletes knew each other from Cristiano's time at the English club, and the Jamaican recalled it in that interview with MARCA at the end of August. "The first time I heard about him was on a trip to Manchester. I remember meeting Ferguson, he invited me to a training session and I met him there. I noticed him because of a great goal he scored in the session," the athlete said.

Cristiano was also full of praise for Usain. "He is the best sprinter in history, I am a fan of his," he said. Then the Jamaican admitted that he had become a Real Madrid supporter. "It is the best team in the world," he said. And both athletes made their own particular wish in the MARCA newsroom: "We want to be the best in history," they said.
