Fantasy football Week 7 sleepers: 10 streamers to target

With four teams on their bye week − Bills, Jaguars, Chargers, and Commanders − you may be searching the waivers for some players to drop into your fantasy football lineups. On top of that, we're still dealing with a ton of injuries, so there's plenty to sort through in terms of potential streamers* for Week 7.

(*Streamers are players who are rostered in 50% or fewer of Yahoo! leagues.)

Here's 10 players to target:

Quarterback

Geno Smith, New York Jets

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that Smith has been great this season, but with three big-name quarterbacks on their bye weeks, you might be searching for help. The Jets have an elite matchup this week versus the Dolphins, who have allowed 18.9 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. The Jets are 4.5-point home favorites and have a 22.0 implied team total. Smith has a touch of upside this week, against a team we should target every week.

Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals

Brissett is in the same boat as Smith − not amazing by any means, but has a path to upside. Brissett is constantly slinging the ball since the Cardinals don't have a running game and are often playing from behind. This has pushed Brissett to 234 pass attempts, which is the fourth-most in the league. It's also helped him post 15-plus fantasy points in three of his six games this season, including two with over 25 fantasy points. It's a tougher matchup versus Denver, but with Trey McBride and Michael Wilson catching passes, Brissett can grind his way to 15 fantasy points.

Running Back

Tyrone Tracy Jr., New York Giants

What a week it has been for the Giants' backfield situation, after Cam Skattebo played on only 8% of the snaps last week and didn't have a single carry. The Giants then released Najee Harris, which is only a boost for Tracy. Against the Saints last week, Tracy only played on 38% of the snaps and had eight touches, but two touchdowns. Those touchdowns are sustainable with that low volume, but with a murky backfield, the usage for Tracy should be there.

Samaje Perine, Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are coming off a bye, and some people may not remember how their game against the Dolphins went two weeks ago. Chase Brown was highly ineffective and played on 60% of the snaps, while Perine managed 15.80 PPR fantasy points while playing on 51% of the offensive snaps. If Brown continues to see his offensive role diminished, Perine can step in and grab you some fantasy points, which should be there in a game with a 48.5-point total.

Wide Receiver

Omar Cooper Jr., New York Jets

We had a big Cooper breakout last week, and with a good matchup against the Dolphins, he can repeat that performance. Cooper broke out last week with a 24.1% target share, 33.3% red zone target share, and a huge 14.71 yards per target. Besides Garrett Wilson, the Jets don't have another player who can consistently earn targets on a game-by-game basis. We've seen a flash from Kenyon Sadiq, but nothing consistent that would take targets away from Cooper.

Jaylin Noel, Houston Texans

Noel is looking to cement himself as the Texans' clear WR2, and he has the matchup to do so. While the trade for Marvin Harrison Jr. is interesting, Noel is the option you should be looking to. While he only carries a 10.3% target share, he sports a massive 15.90 yards per target, which puts him in the 99th percentile in the NFL. He's up against the New York Giants, who allow 31.7 PPR fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. The Texans' running game isn't impressive, and the passing game is where the offense should be focused.

Ryan Flournoy, Dallas Cowboys

With how bad the Cowboys' defense continues to be, their offense needs to score to keep up in most games. Now, that comes with a caveat since they're up against the Eagles on Monday night, who are a disaster on offense right now. At face value, the matchup for Flournoy is super strong, with the Eagles allowing the fifth-most (39.6) PPR fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. He's playing on 73.7% of the offensive snaps, has a 15.2% target share, and an 18.2% red zone target share, which are pretty solid to find on waivers right now.

Tight End

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams

Higbee should've been picked up on the waiver run this past Tuesday, but somehow, he's still only rostered in 36% of Yahoo! leagues. Davante Adams is out for the foreseeable future, making Higbee the clear number two option in the Rams' passing game, behind Puka Nacua. It's an elite matchup versus the Raiders, who've allowed 17.9 PPR fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, which is the seventh-most in the NFL. Higbee has the potential to finish as a top 5 tight end nearly every week moving forward.

Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

Freiermuth is coming off a dud last week, but he's got two top-10 weekly finishes this season, and the Saints are a sieve on defense against tight ends, allowing 18.4 PPR fantasy points per game. He may not see huge volume in the passing game, but he has a 17.2% red zone target share, which is tied for the second-highest on the team, and a 33.3% goal-line target share, which is tied for the highest on the team. A few catches and a touchdown bring him some nice potential upside against a weak opponent.

Defense

Tennessee Titans

The Titans certainly aren't a "good" team, but their defense is actually pretty solid. They allow 21.5 points per game, 13th in the NFL, and they're facing a dreadful Cleveland Browns offense that scores only 17.7 PPG, the fourth-lowest. The Titans can get after the quarterback with a 7.8% sack rate, which is the eighth-highest in the NFL. That ability to get sacks is always nice, since it brings the potential for turnovers, which are the real point-scorers for defense.
