The New York Giants (3-2-1) will take on the Houston Texans (2-4) on Sunday afternoon at Reliant Stadium in their seventh game of the 2026 regular season.
Opening the week, the Giants were listed as 9-point road underdogs, but that line has shifted with New York now at +10.5.
How does the Giants Wire staff see this Week 7 battle shaking out? Here's a look at our picks and score predictions.
The Texans are beginning to come into their own and, despite some shortfalls, come up against an injured Giants team that's in the midst of a major change. J.J. McCarthy will take over for Jameis Winston, which opens their playbook, but his experience is still very limited. Their inability to run the football will only hurt McCarthy, while C.J. Stroud should put up big numbers if the Giants can't bring consistent pressure. The Giants will limp into their bye week winless over their last three games.
Oddsmakers and the betting public don't trust the Giants, and for good reason. Big Blue is all over the map this season, but at a 10.5-point spread, they could be a solid bet. With J.J. McCarthy under center, the offense is potent. All they need is a few defensive stops, and this will be a close game.
I don't love this matchup for the Giants offense. With J.J. McCarthy set to start, it's going to be interesting to see if the Giants go pass-heavy given the Texans' ability to stop the run. The Texans are hot, winning their last two, and they are at home. I don't see the Giants coming up on the winning side in this one.
The Giants face a tough test on Sunday. J.J. McCarthy is getting his first start wearing blue, Najee Harris is gone, putting the ground game back in the hands of Cam Skattebo, and the receiving corps is thin due to injuries. The Texans' defense struggled early in the season, but they've found their footing with DeMeco Ryans calling the plays now, and their offense just got a boost with the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr. If this game is played at MetLife Stadium, I think the Giants have a shot. But they're on the road and facing multiple changes this week. John Harbaugh has managed to get this team to the top of the NFC East, though, so I don't think it's going to be a blowout. The spread is currently 10.5 points in favor of Houston, and while I think the Texans will win, I don't think they'll cover the spread.
The Giants have shown incredible fight this season regardless of the odds. I expect the same here, but they ultimately fall short. J.J. McCarthy looked solid in relief last week, but circumstances are different this time around. Houston has the firepower on offense to put pressure on the Giants' defense, with C.J. Stroud capable of exploiting coverage breakdowns and keeping the chains moving through the air. Meanwhile, the Texans' ability to establish the run and control the tempo could make it difficult for New York to get its offense on the field consistently. For the Giants, containing Houston's explosive plays, winning the battle up front and creating turnovers will be critical, but if the Texans dictate the pace early, New York could find itself playing catch-up for much of the afternoon.
The success of the New York Giants on their road trip to Houston against the Texans this weekend will be heavily dependent on quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans is far too brilliant to fall into the bait of offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who is likely to use misdirection and play action to offset the Texans' defense. In fact, Nagy should expect Ryans to use some shell coverage and pre-snap disguises to confuse McCarthy.
With the consistent struggles of the Giants' secondary and the upward trajectory of C.J. Stroud, there’s just no reason for me to believe that they will come out victorious in Houston this weekend. I’m taking the Texans.
