Morishita hurt his ankle at West Brom and will see a consultant to get an exact timeframe on his absence. Mowbray suggested it was not his ankle but a separate issue that was ruling him out.
Montgomery was a surprise absentee when the team sheets dropped but that was a precaution after picking up a knock. He will be needed next Saturday with Sam Morsy suspended following his fifth yellow card of the season.
Mathias Jorgensen tweaked his thigh in training on Friday and will be scanned to discover whether he will be out again.
"Not good news," Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"Mori has a combination of things. He has a consultation coming up which will give more clarity but it's probably weeks.
"I don't think he'll be ready next week; it's a few weeks for him. It's a collision, rather than his ankle, that's minor.
"Kristi, I am pretty sure he will be back next weekend but he had an injury that we felt if he played, it could become a longer-term injury.
"He was rested for this and a bit of next but by the middle of next week, he should be training and ready to play with Morsy suspended now.
"Jorgensen tweaked his thigh in training yesterday; he would have been on the bench. He was doing extras, a bit of finishing as all strikers want to do and he felt it, he will have a scan.
"He needs a bit of luck because he's an intelligent, bright human being. He needs some luck to have a run in this team."
On a positive note, Mowbray was delighted with his side for their display against Wrexham. Andri Gudjohnsen's brace secured a deserved 2-0 victory at Ewood Park.
"You play Wrexham, you have to put a lot of work in," Mowbray said.
"You have to deal with Kieffer Moore, who wins the second balls, making first contact on crosses. I thought we did that pretty well.
"We got our first pass away on transition and did that well. We scored two and had some other great chances to score more goals.
"I am very pleased with them. I want to challenge and test them to see where they can be and what level they are at.
"I see a team that is competing, running, fighting for every ball, blocking shots. I am very pleased for them and the supporters who watched in that rain.
"Hopefully, a team they are proud to support."

Gudjohnsen scored his ninth goal of the season, continuing his purple patch.
"I told him as he came off the pitch, 'Be careful, or you'll end up at Barcelona like your dad'," Mowbray laughed.
"That's not to be funny but remind him he's doing great. I don't want to cuddle him and keep patting him on the back but I can see what he's got and he has to keep bringing it.
"Ohashi will be ready next week, I think. He needs to keep him suffering on the bench because he's (Gudjohnsen) scoring every week."
