Senna Agius reveals his MotoGP 2027 debut plans with Tech3 KTM and idolizes Casey Stoner

Senna Agius is poised to make a striking entrance into MotoGP, set to debut in the premier class with Tech3 KTM in 2027. The young Australian rider opened up about his journey from dirt track beginnings to the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, his deep admiration for compatriot and two-time world champion Casey Stoner, and his unwavering ambition to not only compete but to dominate as Rookie of the Year.

Agius’s roots in dirt track racing deeply influence his style and mindset. “Everyone listens when Casey Stoner speaks,” Agius said, highlighting the legendary rider’s unmatched skill and commanding presence on and off the track. “My way of riding comes from the same place — home, the dirt track. I just have to win as many world championships as he did to earn that respect.” This connection underscores Agius’s determination to carve out his own legacy, inspired by Stoner’s dominance and charisma.

Reflecting on his first experience with a MotoGP bike, Agius described the overwhelming power and precision he felt. “The bike was an animal,” he recalled. “On my first lap, I was blown away by everything — the physics, the gearbox, the incredible braking power. You feel all the forces on the straights, but when you brake, it’s like an equal force trying to stop you.” This visceral encounter cemented his readiness for the chaos and adrenaline of MotoGP, which he summed up as “a sport fueled by adrenaline, like calculated chaos where you do things that feel almost out-of-body but remain in complete control.”

Agius’s path to the world stage was unconventional and rigorous. Early access to his grandparents’ farms provided the initial playground for his off-road riding, a family tradition shared with his brother. Transitioning to road racing was a revelation: “The moment I tried road racing, I knew it was for me — it was like a lightbulb turning on.” His commitment saw him juggling intense racing schedules in Japan from Thursday to Sunday, then returning home to school by Monday. “When I told my friends at school I spent the weekend racing in Japan, they didn’t believe me,” he said.

Family support has been the cornerstone of Agius’s ascent. “They made it clear from the start: they would back me only if my effort matched their sacrifice,” he explained. “If I gave 50% and they gave 120%, it wouldn’t work. They’ve seen I’ve always given more than 100%.” His father remains a constant presence trackside, forging a special bond that fuels their shared ambition. “My family has supported me all the way, and I wouldn’t be here without them. We’re aiming for the top together.”

Looking ahead to 2027, Agius is unapologetically ambitious. “I want my country to be proud of me. It’s a huge responsibility,” he declared. His goals are clear and bold: “I want to be Rookie of the Year. I have many objectives because I feel 100% capable. I want to look back on my first season knowing I gave everything.” He embraces the pressure that comes with racing at the highest level: “Pressure is a privilege, so I will give it my all.”

Senna Agius’s arrival in MotoGP promises to be one of the most exciting stories in the sport, blending youthful zeal, relentless dedication, and a burning desire to challenge the very heroes he once idolised.
