Wayne Rooney appeared pleased with himself as his recent transformation was noticed during his latest return to Old Trafford. It came amid rumours that he's set to swap the pitch sidelines for the Australian jungle very soon on I'm A Celebrity.

The Manchester United and England footballing legend was on punditry duty at the 'Theatre of Dreams' on Tuesday evening (November 3) for Michael Carrick's side's vital UEFA Champions League match against AS Roma, which ended in a 3-2 win for the local side.

Wayne, who won five Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy during his playing career with United, joined Amazon Prime to offer his thoughts on the match, but it's while he was down on the pitch that his recent makeover didn't go unnoticed by sports presenter Alex Aljoe.

She turned to the former footballer, 41, and said: "You look the same, by the way, and rumour has it this coat is from your playing days, is that true?" A smiling Wayne then replied: "Yeah, I'm back in it! Back in my playing days coat."

Back in September, Wayne said he had been "working really hard to lose weight" and insisted that he hasn't turned to alternative methods to change his physical appearance, as he was seen showing off his new look at the premiere of his and wife Coleen's reality show, The Real Rooneys.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "Apparently, I've seen recently, I've been taking this pen thing about me. It's a shame, because I'm working really hard to lose weight. Apparently, I've been on the pen." Coleen went on to add: "I thought you were gonna say then, my nose wasn't a cosmetic job, it was a medical job!"

She also said that she persuaded Wayne to have the operation, partly to improve his snoring. She said, "I tried to get him to do it because of his snoring," as Wayne added, "I couldn't blow one side out of my nose, so I had it fixed."

Meanwhile, there is currently talk that Wayne will soon be heading Down Under by following Coleen onto I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! after she inished as runner-up on the 2024 series.

According to The Sun, Wayne hopes to impress his four sons by taking on the show’s Bushtucker trials – and is considered one of the ITV reality programme's biggest signings.

Gavin And Stacey star Joanna Page is also said to have signed up for the latest series, while another star said to be set for the jungle is Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson. Other names being rumoured for the jungle this year, as ITV is yet to confirm its full line-up, include Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney, Big Brother co-host AJ Odudu and comedian Leigh Francis, best know for his alter-ego, Keith Lemon.
