Ipswich Town v Nottingham Forest - Chuba Akpom on Premier League clash

The Reds have struggled so far this season, winning just one game in all competitions, but they haven’t looked like a side that currently occupies a spot in the bottom three.

Akpom believes that they are far stronger than their results suggest.

“They've played well,” he said. “I watched the Arsenal game, and they did very well. They had a lot of opportunities to score.

“I think, in the Premier League, there's no easy games. Whether we're playing against the team that's bottom or first, it's going to be tough. There's a reason why it's the hardest league in the world to compete in.

“We've prepared well this week, and I think we're ready for tomorrow.”

Looking sharp against the Gunners, Akpom was certainly impressed by Oliver Glasner’s side, but he’s adamant that they will be wary of the Blues’ threats and resilience on the pitch.

“They were playing against Arsenal, who were the Premier League winners last season, and they did very well,” he argued.

“But I also think that they're probably looking at our games and thinking, ‘wow, this team doesn't give up’. We've got quality on the pitch, we've got quality on the bench, and they're probably thinking that it's going to be difficult for them.

“Both teams are good teams and it will be interesting how the game goes tomorrow.”

Akpom is familiar with Nottingham Forest, having played for them on loan, albeit more than a decade ago, in 2015.

Much has changed at the City Ground since then, but the 31-year-old is happy to see them thriving at the highest level.

“Nottingham Forest is a top club with a massive fan base, lots of history and amazing facilities,” he explained. “They've come a long way.

“Just like many other teams in the Premier League, they are finally starting to establish themselves as a Premier League team. It's fantastic.

“I can imagine all the players are loving playing for Nottingham Forest. I've had a few loans in my career, so that was a while back, but it was nice to be there.”
