TOTTENHAM are set to lodge a formal complaint after Leeds’ Jayden Bogle was NOT sent for an early shower.
The 26-year-old defender escaped unpunished after colliding with Mathys Tel, catching the forward’s ankle with his studs.
Spurs reportedly view the first-half clip as cause for a red card and will be writing to the refereeing body Pro Ref to seek a proper explanation.
In the 79th minute, Noah Okafor put the Yorkshire outfit ahead to move into eighth, while the North Londoners slipped to tenth.
Spurs went without a goal for the fifth league game this season, having also waited until their fifth game for a Prem goal.
VAR reviewed the clash at the time, but referee John Brooks was not sent to the pitch-side monitor, leaving Bogle unscathed.
Ex-Premier League assistant referee Darren Cann noted that the Leeds star was both “lucky” and “fortunate” to still be on the pitch.
He said: “Bogle’s challenge meets the criteria for serious foul play as he endangers the safety of an opponent.”
When play resumed there was just nine minutes remaining of the first-half.
And the messy pause caused Roberto De Zerbi & Co to lose their rhythm and composure to recover a comeback.
Post-match, the Spurs boss refused to pinpoint the defeat on Brooks and VAR.
Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: “I have big confidence in the referee. Nothing changes if he goes to the monitor.
“If they didn’t take the right decision I don’t know.
“We have to keep the eyes on the performance where can improve.
“We deserved to lose the game in the second half and didn’t play like we can.
“It’s a journey for us because we can learn from this game.
“I am sorry for the performance in the second half – we didn’t play like a top team.
“We didn’t have the right character and physicality in the second half.”
Spurs will host 14th-place Ipswich first after the international break as they continue to climb up the table – slowly but surely.
