Tottenham Hotspur are expected to submit a formal complaint about Jayden Bogle not being sent off for his challenge on Mathys Tel during their 1-0 defeat to Leeds.
Roberto De Zerbi's side saw their three-match winning streak end on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road, but it was the ugly foul on the Spurs forward that dominated the headlines. The Whites defender escaped a caution despite catching the Frenchman on his ankle in the first-half, leaving him writhing in pain.
The BBC reports that the north London side are in full agreement that Bogle, 26, should have been given his marching orders and will write to refereeing organisation, Pro Ref, for an explanation on why the Englishman wasn't dismissed.
The five-minute check of the challenge was conducted by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Tony Harrington, who did not instruct referee John Brooks to the pitch-side monitor. As no red card was shown to Bogle, the defender escaped punishment, as he wasn't initially given a yellow by Brooks.
The full-back was told he was "fortunate" not to be sent for an early shower by former Premier League assistant referee Darren Cann. He told BBC Sport: "Bogle's challenge meets the criteria for serious foul play as he endangers the safety of an opponent.
"He can consider himself lucky to still be on the pitch." Leeds' victory - via Noah Okafor's late goal - saw them clinch their first league win since beating Newcastle United 4-1 in mid-September. De Zerbi refused to blame the VAR controversy for his side's defeat after full-time.

Mathys Tel was forced off after the challenge
"We deserved to lose the game in the second half and didn't play like we can," the Italian told TNT Sports. "It's a journey for us because we can learn from this game. I am sorry for the performance in the second half - we didn't play like a top team. We didn't have the right character and physicality in the second half."
Spurs' victories over Coventry City, Chelsea and Crystal Palace marked the club's first time winning three games in a row since February 2025. The defeat has left them 10th in the Premier League table, but could drop further depending on Sunday's results.
