After deciding late that he wanted a career in sports journalism, Daniel worked his way up the ladder in an unconventional manner.

Having opted against university, Daniel worked with Sky Sports as a freelance contributor and translator during transfer windows while also volunteering on several other blog pages and outlets to get a portfolio of content together.

Daniel then worked with Barnet FC as part of their social media team before starting his own website, which focused on football and MMA content.

That eventually led to work with 90min and Reach PLC with The Mirror, Daily Record, Daily Express, and Manchester Evening News.

Following that, Daniel spent two-and-a-half years with Breaking Media covering Everton, Rangers, Leeds, West Ham and other clubs before joining GiveMeSport as a Premier League editor.

As well as football, Daniel is a huge MMA fan and has appeared on YouTube and podcast content too.

Tottenham Hotspur have finally turned a corner under Robert De Zerbi, and are looking forward to the future and how far they could potentially go.

Spurs have claimed back-to-back wins in the Premier League over Coventry City and Chelsea in the last two games, moving them up the Premier League table, and strong performances in other games have meant that fans finally have something to cheer about after over two years of underperformance and disappointment.

The defence is beginning to understand what the manager wants; the midfield is finally looking like a cohesive unit, and the team is linking together well across the pitch, which is a vast improvement from what has been seen in previous campaigns.

But one area that is still somewhat struggling is the forward line, with Spurs forwards combining for just three goals in the Premier League so far this season, with Omar Marmoush, Mathys Tel, and Dominic Solanke netting one each.

A lack of options in the attack has been a problem for De Zerbi so far, with the team creating chances but not finishing enough. That immediately takes you back to the summer transfer window where the club were desperate to bring in a new striker, but couldn't get a deal over the line.

The idea was for Marmoush to occupy that role, but he has struggled and been an isolated figure, and looks better coming from a wide role or playing off a more natural number nine, while Solanke doesn't seem to be a good fit for the system.

Premier League Era Before or After

Did it happen before or after?

Round 1 of 9

That makes sense when you consider that the club were taking a very close look at getting a big-money deal over the line for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi in the summer window.

An injury to the young forward brought that to an end, although interest is still likely to be there, but there will be big competition for the 20-year-old if he becomes available after a record-breaking campaign last time around.

With Richarlison an outcast at the club and Solanke not convincing, a new striker is still needed, and a report by TEAMtalk suggests that the club have been watching Monaco sensation Paris Brunner live in the flesh, as he has exploded into life in Ligue 1 this season.

The German youth international has scored six goals in eight starts for the Principality club in all competitions, and it has now emerged that some of Europe's top clubs, plus Spurs, are eyeing a potential January swoop for the youngster, with their financial situation still a problem.

Kroupi has been the top forward target, but Bournemouth are likely to demand around £100m to get a deal done, despite having signed him for just £12m plus bonuses in February 2025.

The exposure and opportunities he has had have allowed for that development and growth, but it means that a deal has likely passed Spurs by to be able to bring in a top talent, and now they must look at alternatives. Brunner could be that alternative.

The 20-year-old has explosive pace, is good with both feet, is a strong finisher, and has a huge ceiling of potential, which has seen Monaco describe him as 'unstoppable'. A deal would be considerably cheaper than one for Kroupi now, but there is the potential for a big upside and for Spurs to get the same results for bringing him in.

Monaco's financial situation saw them sell Maghnes Akliouche in the summer, while deals for Lamine Camara and Folarin Balogun were also agreed before collapsing at the 11th hour. But the club still need to raise more funds, and that opens the door for Spurs to make a move to get their man.

It's a situation to watch in the coming weeks, but Tottenham have a chance to bring in their own Kroupi for a fraction of the price, and reap the rewards of being brave in the transfer market.
