Ohio State didn't see what happened on the banks of the Olentangy coming, but we all witnessed a beatdown at the hands of the Oregon Ducks. It was a hot start for the Buckeyes, but from the second quarter on, Oregon was hungrier, more aggressive, and more disciplined on the way to a 41-28 victory that emptied out the 'Shoe in ways we rarely see.
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning met with the media after the game and was visibly pleased with his team's effort. We like to listen to head coach Ryan Day after each Ohio State game, but we also like to keep tabs on what the opposing coaches say, and it's no different here.
If you are into that type of thing as well, then we have you covered with Lanning's complete Ohio State postgame press conference inside Ohio Stadium afterwards, thanks to the GoDucks YouTube channel. Lanning talked about his team's resiliency, gave compliments to receiver Jeremiah Smith, talked about his point to the scoreboard during a player scuffle, and even came to the defense of Day after all the dust settled.
The loss by Ohio State almost assuredly takes the Buckeyes out of the conversation for a Big Ten title and a spot in the College Football Playoff (barring utter chaos), but they must now pick up the pieces and try to prepare for a game vs. Northwestern next week.
