Manor Solomon reveals the new West Ham partnership he’s really excited about

West Ham United winger Manor Solomon admits he is excited about the growing understanding between himself and Morato down the left-hand side this season.

Because Morato only arrived on loan from Nottingham Forest on deadline day, he and his partner on that flank have had to get used to each other’s presence pretty quickly. Yet, right from the off, signs of a flourishing partnership were evident.

Solomon and Morato combined to set up Jarrod Bowen when West Ham United scored the first of six unanswered goals against Wrexham at the London Stadium a month ago.

He and the former Tottenham winger have now played seven games together and, with 35 Championship matchdays remaining, that understanding should only grow from here on in.

“I think it has taken me and Morato a bit of time to adapt to playing with each other,” Solomon tells the club’s official website as West Ham prepare to host Southampton at the London Stadium tomorrow.

“But that relationship is definitely building, as is my link-up with the other attackers here. You can feel things growing all the time, and we’re all just excited to keep playing games and to try and get more wins for the team.”

Solomon faces competition from the in-form Edvin Austbo on the left-hand side these days. Austbo was West Ham’s standout performer against Lincoln. The Norwegian is currently top of the Championship charts, too, averaging a goal or an assist around every 50 minutes.

Solomon, in contrast, has impressed in fits and bursts. In fact, he has the same number of goal contributions as Austbo – four – despite playing around 600 more minutes.

“I’ve really enjoyed it here so far this season,” Solomon adds. “We’ve had some ups and downs, and there have been intense periods with lots of games, but we’re in a good place and we feel we can keep progressing.

“Over the last few weeks I was struggling a bit with illness after being away with the national team, so I wasn’t in the best shape and I didn’t have the best energy. Now I feel that’s behind me, and I’m ready to help the team at my maximum for sure.”
