Manchester United youngster Shea Lacey produced a moment of magic to help the team defeat Roma.
For weeks, Manchester United fans have been calling for Shea Lacey to get an opportunity.
In the 75th minute he finally got one, brought on with United trailing Roma 2-1 and in need of inspiration.
Let's talk Manchester United RELEGATION
Lacey almost made an immediate impact when he was brought down in the box. He really should have been awarded a penalty, but the referee waved play on.
There was more to come, fortunately. With the score at 2-2, Lacey zipped a line-breaking ball into the box to pick out Matheus Cunha, and the Brazilian lashed the ball into the net.
That was Lacey’s first assist for Manchester United, with Cunha securing United a 3-2 win.
At full-time, head coach Michael Carrick was pictured with Lacey with a big smile on his face, embracing the youngster on the pitch.
He knew the academy graduate had played a key part in his much-needed victory, Carrick’s first win as United head coach in almost two full months.
Michael Carrick started Lacey in the Carabao Cup against Brighton, and saw the teenager score his first goal for the club.
But bizarrely, Lacey has barely played since. He was dropped for the next game against Fulham, and then Amad’s return has pushed him further down the queue.
The simple truth is that Amad just has not been very good since his return. The Ivorian has not scored a goal since December, and is struggling to make an impact right now.
Lacey needed only 15 minutes. Michael Carrick needs to believe in him a little more.
