Uganda stunned Kenya Lionesses with a last-minute try to claim a dramatic 19-14 victory and book their place in the Africa Women’s 7s final at RFUEA Grounds.
The victory avenged Uganda’s defeat to Kenya in the Safari 7s final, with the two sides meeting once again in a fiercely contested East African derby.
Uganda made an impressive start, with Tina Okello landing the opening try, which was converted for a 7-0 lead. Peace Lekuru extended the advantage with Uganda’s second try.

It appeared the Lionesses had done enough to secure their place in the final, with just seconds remaining on the clock. However, Uganda had other ideas.
After winning a series of penalties, Lekuru quickly tapped and powered over the line for her second try of the match. She added the conversion to complete a stunning comeback and seal a 19-14 victory for Uganda..
Meanwhile, Tunisia booked their return to the Africa Women’s 7s final after defeating Zimbabwe 22-10 in the second semi-final.
Tunisia took a 10-5 lead into the break in a closely contested encounter. Chiwoniso Mabika opened the scoring for Zimbabwe before Sameh Lehwel responded for Tunisia, with Korbi Yassmine adding another try.
Zimbabwe drew level at 10-10 through Robyn Mhembere, but Tunisia regained control when Nour Ayari crossed for another try.
