Mngqithi Out, Davids In? Young Africans Reportedly Reach Agreement With South African Coach

South African coach Fadlu Davids is reportedly set to become the new head coach of Tanzanian giants Young Africans, replacing fellow South African tactician Manqoba Mngqithi. Davids is expected to return to Tanzania after reaching an agreement with the club, according to reports.

The development comes shortly after Mngqithi's departure from Young Africans towards the end of October. The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach had spent only three months in charge of the Tanzanian side before the club decided to end their working relationship.

According to FARPost, Davids has now reached an agreement with Young Africans and is expected to take over as their next head coach. His possible appointment will bring another South African coach to one of the biggest football clubs in Tanzania.

Davids has been without a club since June, when he parted ways with Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca by mutual consent. His departure came after a period in which he had the opportunity to work in Moroccan football following his previous coaching experience in South Africa and Tanzania.

Interestingly, this will not be Davids' first involvement with Young Africans. He was previously linked with the coaching position before the club appointed Mngqithi. However, the negotiations did not produce an agreement because the two parties reportedly failed to reach common ground over financial terms.

Young Africans eventually turned their attention to Mngqithi, who arrived in Tanzania with considerable experience from his time in South African football. However, his spell at the club lasted only three months, leaving the position available once again.

Davids is already familiar with the football environment in Tanzania, having previously coached Simba SC, Young Africans' biggest rivals. His experience at Simba could help him settle quickly if his appointment is officially confirmed.

During his time with Simba, the South African coach guided the club to the CAF Confederation Cup final. Although they ultimately failed to win the competition, reaching the final was a significant achievement during his spell in charge.

Coaching Young Africans would present Davids with another opportunity to compete for major honours in African football. The club has a strong supporter base and is expected to challenge for domestic trophies while also making an impact in continental competitions.

His experience at Simba could also make his appointment particularly interesting because of the fierce rivalry between the two Tanzanian clubs. Moving from coaching Simba to taking charge of Young Africans would place him in a different position within one of African football's most closely followed rivalries.

For South African football supporters, the reported appointment is another important development involving a local coach working outside the country. Davids would be expected to build a competitive team and meet the high expectations associated with the Young Africans job.

Mngqithi's departure brought an early end to his Tanzanian adventure, but the club now appears to have identified another South African coach to lead its next chapter.

Although Davids has reportedly reached an agreement with Young Africans, supporters will be waiting for the club to make an official announcement confirming his appointment.
