Orlando Pirates Have Announced the Departure of Another Top Technical Staff, Check Out

Mandla Ncikazi Parts Ways With Orlando Pirates as He Prepares for New Coaching Challenge

Mandla Ncikazi has officially ended his tenure as an assistant coach at Orlando Pirates after the Soweto giants confirmed his departure on Thursday, October 22, 2026. The experienced tactician is now preparing to pursue a new opportunity that will allow him to take on greater responsibilities as a head coach in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Ncikazi played an important role in Pirates' technical team, working alongside head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou as the club continued to compete in domestic and continental competitions. His departure marks a significant change to the Buccaneers' coaching structure as they continue their campaign across different competitions.

During his time at the club, Ncikazi contributed his experience and tactical knowledge to training sessions, match preparations and the team's overall approach. His understanding of South African football made him a valuable member of the technical staff, particularly as Pirates sought to maintain their position among the country's leading clubs.

His decision to leave Orlando Pirates represents an opportunity to establish himself further as a head coach and demonstrate his managerial abilities. Taking charge of a team independently will allow him to implement his football philosophy, make key tactical decisions and assume greater responsibility for results.

Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza expressed his appreciation for Ncikazi's contribution, wishing him well as he prepares for the next stage of his coaching career.

"With our deepest appreciation and warmest wishes, Mandla departs. Throughout his time with us, his contribution to Orlando Pirates has been evident," Khoza said.

He also indicated that the club respected Ncikazi's decision to pursue the opportunity and wished him success in his future endeavours.

Ncikazi's experience at Pirates is expected to serve him well as he prepares for the demands of leading another PSL club. His new challenge will require him to build a competitive team, manage players and deliver results in a league known for its intensity.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates must adjust their technical setup following his departure. The club will continue focusing on its season objectives while Ncikazi prepares to begin a new chapter in his coaching career.
