Even though he has been having trouble finding consistent playing time this season, Daniel Msendami, who is now on loan from the Orlando Pirates, has been unexpectedly called up to the national squad.
Despite the fact that he has only played 161 minutes of football so far this season, the Zimbabwean forward has been selected to be a part of his country's provisional team for the forthcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
According to KickOff, which was broadcast on Sunday, November 1, 2026, the selection of Msendami has garnered notice due to the fact that he has not been actively involved at the club level in the past few months.
Due to the fact that he was having difficulty securing regular opportunities at Orlando Pirates, the 24-year-old player was moved out on loan to Marumo Gallants during the later parts of the previous transfer window.
However, his move to Gallants has not gone according to expectations, as the Zimbabwean player has not yet made an appearance for the team from the time he joined them.
The fact that he made all three of his appearances this season while he was still with the Orlando Pirates is an interesting circumstance. It was during those matches that he was able to make a contribution by scoring a goal for the Buccaneers, which resulted in the Buccaneers win against AmaZulu.
Roman Catala, the head coach of Zimbabwe, has made the decision to include him in the provisional squad as preparations begin for the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. This decision was made despite the fact that he has not been given much playing time at Marumo Gallants.
It is possible that his selection will afford him the chance to rebuild his self-assurance and acquire an opportunity to gain valuable playing time at the international level.
Despite the fact that Msendami's club career has not progressed as he had anticipated, the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe continues to be a significant one for him.
While this is going on, Marumo Gallants have been having a rough time in the campaign that is currently active. After a rough beginning to the season, the club just achieved its first league victory of the year against Siwelele FC on Friday nite. This victory provided the players with some much-needed strength and inspiration.
Msendami will now be hoping that his participation in the national team would assist him in returning to competitive activity and improving his situation in front of the remaining matches.
Not only does his inclusion raise doubts about how Zimbabwe's technical team regards his potential, but it also raises questions about how limited his playing time has been at the club level.
The situation will be interesting to follow for fans of the Orlando Pirates, particularly when one considers the fact that the attacker is still under contract with the Buccaneers and is presently getting experience away from the club.
At this point, the Zimbabwean forward will be eager to make the most of his opportunity to play for the national side and demonstrate that he is deserving of a spot in the final roster for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
