Golden Arrows head coach Mandla Ncikazi has promised to work towards improving the team’s performances after returning to the KwaZulu-Natal club for a second spell in charge.

The experienced coach was appointed following the departure of Pitso Dladla, who left after a difficult run of results. Ncikazi’s return has raised hopes that his familiarity with the club can help restore consistency and improve the team’s position in the Betway Premiership.

Ncikazi, who previously guided Golden Arrows to a fourth-place finish in the 2020/21 league season, expressed gratitude to chairperson Mato Madlala for giving him another opportunity to lead the team.

“I’ll do my best to try and improve the product. I’m confident that we’ll be better than what we were yesterday,” he said.

The coach acknowledged that his return comes with significant responsibility, particularly as the club seeks to improve its results and rebuild confidence among supporters. However, he believes the players’ attitude during training has given him reasons to remain optimistic.

Ncikazi said he had been encouraged by the willingness of the younger members of the squad to learn, adapt and implement new ideas. He believes their commitment to improving could help Golden Arrows become more competitive in the coming weeks.

“It’s early days, and working with the young players—but I see the willingness from all of them, the willpower to learn from the set plays you can see. They want to learn, they want to try some new things. That gives hope,” he explained.

He also cautioned against making promises that cannot be fulfilled, stressing that the team must demonstrate its progress through performances on the pitch.

Beyond results, Ncikazi hopes to restore a positive atmosphere around the club and encourage supporters to continue backing the players. He believes Golden Arrows have the potential to develop into a strong team if the squad receives the necessary support.

His immediate task is to build momentum and improve consistency as the club navigates its domestic fixtures. With his previous experience at Golden Arrows and his time working with Orlando Pirates, the coach will look to use his knowledge to guide the team through the challenges ahead.

Ncikazi’s message is clear: he intends to improve Golden Arrows while remaining realistic about the work required to achieve the club’s ambitions.
