Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has demonstrated that his relationship with the club remains strong after visiting the Naturena headquarters to meet chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung following his latest appointment in South African football.

The former Amakhosi attacking midfielder, widely regarded as one of the greatest players to have represented the Soweto giants, recently shared pictures of his visit to the Kaizer Chiefs Village on his official Instagram account. The visit came shortly after his appointment as the new vice-chairperson of the South African Football Association (SAFA) Technical Committee.

Khumalo, affectionately known as “16V” during his playing career, remains one of the most celebrated figures in Kaizer Chiefs history. His technical ability, creativity, vision and contribution to South African football have earned him a special place among supporters of the club and the national team.

In the photographs shared on social media, the 59-year-old was seen at the club's training base in Naturena, where he also interacted with Motaung. The meeting attracted attention from football followers, particularly because of Khumalo's long-standing association with the club where he established himself as a football icon.

Explaining the reason for his visit, Khumalo indicated that he wanted to meet Motaung and receive his blessings following the announcement of his new SAFA role.

“A visit at the Village. Had to see the Chairman, Dr Kaizer Motaung to get my blessings after the SAFA announcement,” Khumalo wrote in his Instagram caption.

His message highlighted the respect he continues to have for the Kaizer Chiefs chairman and the institution that played a significant role in shaping his football career.

Khumalo's appointment to the SAFA Technical Committee represents another opportunity for him to contribute to the development of South African football beyond his achievements on the pitch. His experience as a former professional footballer and Bafana Bafana international could prove valuable in discussions surrounding technical development and the future of the game.

Although his playing days are behind him, Khumalo's connection with Kaizer Chiefs remains evident. His latest visit to Naturena has once again reminded supporters of the enduring bond between the club and one of its most iconic former players.
