From Naturena To Regional League: Former Kaizer Chiefs Star Siyethemba Sithebe Makes Shock Comeback

Siyethemba Sithebe Makes Surprise Comeback After 18 Months Away From Professional Football

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has reportedly made a surprise return to football after spending approximately 18 months away from the professional game. The experienced midfielder is said to have joined the Hollywoodbets Regional League as he looks to revive his playing career.

Sithebe's return marks a new chapter for a player who previously competed in South Africa's top flight and represented some of the country's recognised football clubs. His latest move has attracted attention from supporters who remember his time at AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs.

The midfielder established himself as a hardworking player during his spell at AmaZulu, where his performances earned him a move to Kaizer Chiefs in 2022. Joining Amakhosi presented an opportunity to showcase his abilities at one of the biggest clubs in South African football.

However, his time at Naturena came with challenges. Competition for places, injuries and changes within the squad made it difficult for him to establish himself as a regular starter. Despite making several appearances, Sithebe struggled to secure a consistent role in the team.

He eventually left Kaizer Chiefs in 2024 after his contract expired and subsequently joined Richards Bay in an attempt to continue his career in the Betway Premiership.

His latest move comes after an extended period without a professional club, raising questions about his future in the game. However, his reported arrival in the Hollywoodbets Regional League suggests he is not ready to walk away from football.

The regional competition could provide Sithebe with an opportunity to regain match fitness, rebuild his confidence and demonstrate that he still has the ability to compete.

Although it remains unclear whether he will secure another opportunity in professional football, his experience at the highest domestic level could prove valuable to his new team.

For now, Sithebe will be focused on returning to competitive action and making the most of this opportunity. His comeback serves as a reminder that football careers can take unexpected turns, but determination can open the door to another chapter.
