Egyptian club Al-Ittihad Alexandria are reportedly considering a move for South African forward Percy Tau ahead of the January transfer window. However, the possibility of the transfer happening remains uncertain, with head coach Hamza Al-Jamal expected to make the final decision on whether the club should pursue the experienced attacker.
According to reports, Al-Ittihad Alexandria currently have an estimated 40% chance of completing a deal for Tau. Although the Egyptian side have not ruled out signing the former Al Ahly star, several factors still need to be assessed before the club makes any formal move.
A report discussing the potential transfer stated: "The percentage of Al-Ittihad Alexandria signing Percy Tau does not exceed 40% and depends on Hamza Al-Jamal's decision."
Al-Jamal is expected to evaluate whether the 31-year-old possesses the qualities required to strengthen his attacking options. His assessment will reportedly focus on Tau's footballing abilities, current condition and suitability for the club's tactical approach.
The potential signing is being considered as Al-Ittihad prepare for the January transfer window, with the club looking to identify players who could improve the squad ahead of the second half of the season.
However, there have been no official discussions between Tau and Al-Ittihad Alexandria regarding a possible transfer. Reports indicate that the South African international was recommended to the club's officials by a prominent Egyptian football agent rather than being identified through a direct request from the club's management.
Tau is already familiar with Egyptian football, having previously enjoyed a successful spell with Al Ahly. During his time with the Cairo-based giants, he won several major honours, including two CAF Champions League titles.
His previous experience in Egypt could be an advantage if Al-Ittihad decide to pursue his signature, although the final decision reportedly rests with head coach Hamza Al-Jamal.
