Mamelodi Sundowns could face an important decision regarding the future of midfielder Marcelo Allende, whose contract is reportedly approaching its expiry at the end of the season.

The Chilean midfielder’s future at Chloorkop has become a talking point following Sundowns’ disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League, with speculation growing over whether he will remain with the club beyond the current campaign.

Allende has been part of Sundowns’ midfield setup, contributing his technical ability, passing range and work rate. However, with his reported contract situation approaching a decisive stage, questions are emerging about whether the two parties will reach an agreement on an extension.

The 27-year-old joined Sundowns in 2022 and has featured in domestic and continental competitions during his time in South Africa. His experience and versatility have made him one of the options available to the technical team in midfield.

Sundowns’ Champions League elimination has intensified scrutiny of the club’s performances and raised questions about possible changes ahead of the next season. Nevertheless, there is no confirmed evidence that Allende’s potential departure is directly linked to the continental setback.

The midfielder’s contract situation could attract interest from clubs looking to strengthen their squads, particularly if he becomes available without a transfer fee. However, any potential move would depend on negotiations, his personal preferences and the interest of other teams.

For Sundowns, retaining an experienced midfielder or allowing him to leave would have implications for squad planning as the club prepares for future domestic and continental challenges.

At this stage, Allende’s departure remains a possibility rather than a confirmed development. Neither a completed exit nor a final decision on his future has been established in the information provided.

The coming months could therefore prove crucial in determining whether the Chilean continues his career at Chloorkop or considers a new challenge elsewhere.
