Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly making significant progress in their pursuit of South African winger Elias Mokwana, with the Amakhosi said to be closing in on securing his services ahead of the completion of a potential transfer.
The latest developments have generated excitement among Kaizer Chiefs supporters, who are hoping the club will strengthen its attacking department as it continues its efforts to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for major honours.
According to a report by FARPost, Mokwana has already agreed to personal terms with the Soweto giants and is expected to undergo a medical examination this week. The assessment represents an important stage in the proposed move, as the club seeks to establish whether the player meets its physical and medical requirements before finalising the deal.
Although an agreement over personal terms suggests that negotiations have progressed considerably, the transfer is not yet officially complete. The remaining formalities, including the medical examination and any outstanding negotiations between the relevant parties, still need to be concluded.
Mokwana's potential arrival would provide Kaizer Chiefs with additional attacking options, particularly on the wings, where his pace, direct running and ability to create opportunities could offer the technical team greater flexibility.
The winger could also increase competition for places within the squad, forcing existing attacking players to maintain consistent performances while giving the coaching staff more alternatives when preparing for important fixtures.
Chiefs have been working towards assembling a stronger squad capable of competing with their domestic rivals, including Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. Adding another quality attacking player could therefore prove valuable as the club pursues its ambitions this season.
For now, Amakhosi supporters will be waiting for the outcome of Mokwana's expected medical examination. An official announcement from the club will be required before the transfer can be considered complete.
