Bafana Bafana striker Ashley Cupido continues to demonstrate his goalscoring quality abroad, with the South African forward making an impressive impact in Israel following his move to the Liga Leumit.

The 25-year-old has quickly established himself as an important attacking figure at his new club, SC Kiryat Yam, where his performances in front of goal have attracted attention. His latest contribution further highlights the progress he has made since leaving South Africa in search of regular playing opportunities.

Cupido recently found the back of the net during Kiryat Yam's 2-2 draw against Kiryat Gat in the Israeli second division. Despite his team's failure to secure maximum points, the striker had another reason to celebrate after recording his sixth league goal of the campaign.

The latest strike also took his overall tally to nine goals across all competitions, underlining the positive impact he has made since arriving in Israel. With six goals in eight league appearances, Cupido has demonstrated impressive consistency and appears to be enjoying his football again.

His current performances represent a significant improvement from his previous campaign with Stellenbosch FC. The forward struggled to establish himself consistently during the 2025/26 season, managing just one goal and two assists in 38 appearances across competitions.

That difficult period eventually led to his season-long loan move to Kiryat Yam in July 2026. The transfer provided him with an opportunity to gain regular playing time, rebuild his confidence and rediscover the goalscoring instincts that previously made him an exciting prospect in South African football.

Cupido's return to form will undoubtedly be encouraging for Stellenbosch, who remain his parent club. His performances could also strengthen his ambitions of returning to the Bafana Bafana setup, having previously earned an opportunity with the senior national team.

For now, the striker's priority will be maintaining his impressive performances and helping Kiryat Yam achieve its objectives this season.

With his confidence growing and goals continuing to arrive, Cupido is making the most of his opportunity abroad. His latest achievement further demonstrates that the move to Israeli football could become an important turning point in his career. lite.apex-football.com +1
