South African international Relebohile Mofokeng is reportedly attracting interest from two prominent European clubs following his impressive start to life in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise.

The talented attacker has reportedly caught the attention of German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and French Ligue 1 outfit Lille, with both clubs said to be monitoring his progress ahead of the January transfer window.

Mofokeng's performances since arriving at Union SG have reportedly impressed observers, with his versatility and attacking qualities drawing attention from clubs across Europe.

The former Orlando Pirates star completed a move to the Belgian outfit in July 2026 in a transfer described as a landmark deal. His departure from the Soweto giants marked an important step in his career as he pursued an opportunity to establish himself in European football.

Since making the move, the Bafana Bafana international has continued working to adapt to the demands of European football while showcasing the qualities that made him one of South Africa's highly regarded young talents.

According to Belgium-based transfer specialist Sacha Tavolieri, Bayer Leverkusen and Lille are closely monitoring the 22-year-old ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

The reported interest from the two clubs could represent another significant development in Mofokeng's European journey, although no official transfer agreement or formal bid has been confirmed.

Bayer Leverkusen have established themselves as a major force in German football, while Lille are among the recognised clubs competing in France's top division.

For South African football supporters, the reported attention from Germany and France will be encouraging, particularly as Mofokeng continues his development abroad.

A potential move would depend on the interest progressing beyond monitoring, but his performances at Union SG have already placed him on the radar of other European clubs.
