Cristiano's Almería Donates Entire Ticket Revenue to Family of Footballer Who Died at 30

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Almería Makes Heartfelt Gesture to Family of Late Jesús de Miguel

Cristiano Ronaldo’s investment club, UD Almería, has announced a touching gesture of support for the family of Spanish footballer Jesús de Miguel following his tragic death at the age of 30.

The Spanish club has confirmed that it will donate all the money generated from ticket sales for its upcoming home match against CD Tenerife to support the late striker’s family.

The decision comes at a deeply emotional time for Spanish football, following the death of De Miguel, who passed away on Tuesday, 3 November, after suffering a serious collision during a match between his club, Tenerife, and FC Andorra.

Although Ronaldo is a major shareholder in Almería, the club’s official announcement credited its president, Mohammed Al Khereiji, with initiating the donation. Ronaldo acquired a 25 per cent stake in the Spanish side through his CR7 Sports Investments company in February 2026, joining the ownership consortium led by Saudi-based SMC Group.

The donation will cover the entire revenue generated from ticket sales for Almería’s home fixture against Tenerife, scheduled for matchday 34 of the LaLiga Hypermotion season. The club has not announced a specific financial value for the contribution, as the final amount will depend on ticket sales.

In its official statement, Almería explained that the initiative was driven by its sense of social and humanitarian responsibility and its desire to stand alongside members of the football community during difficult moments.

The club acknowledged that no amount of financial assistance could replace a loved one or remove the pain of losing someone so close. However, it stressed that football should represent more than competition, results and trophies.

Almería also highlighted the importance of compassion, solidarity and mutual support, particularly when members of the football family are facing tragedy.

As part of the gesture, the club has extended an invitation to De Miguel’s family to attend the match against Tenerife, should their personal circumstances allow them to do so.

The invitation is intended as another expression of support and a way for the Almería community to show that the late footballer and his loved ones have not been forgotten.

De Miguel’s death has sent shockwaves through Spanish football. The 30-year-old was involved in an accidental on-field collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during Monday’s match.

The incident required immediate medical attention, and the striker was taken to hospital. Despite the efforts to save him, he died the following day, leaving behind his wife and young daughter.

His passing has prompted messages of sympathy from clubs, players and supporters, with the tragedy once again highlighting how quickly events on a football pitch can change.

Almería’s decision is particularly significant because the club will be facing Tenerife, the team De Miguel represented. Rather than treating the fixture as an ordinary league encounter, the club has chosen to use the occasion to provide practical assistance to those closest to the deceased player.

The gesture also reflects the wider sense of solidarity emerging across Spanish football. Other clubs have taken steps to honour De Miguel, with UD Las Palmas announcing that its players would wear a special third kit for their upcoming match against CD Eldense in his memory.

For Ronaldo, whose involvement in football ownership is part of his growing business activities beyond playing, the announcement also places his investment club in the middle of a moment of compassion within the sport.

However, the distinction remains important: Almería’s official statement identifies Mohammed Al Khereiji as the driving force behind the donation, rather than describing it as a personal financial contribution from Ronaldo.

The amount raised from the Tenerife fixture may not undo the pain experienced by De Miguel’s wife and daughter, but it will provide tangible support during an extremely difficult period.

More importantly, Almería’s decision sends a message that the football community can come together beyond club rivalries when one of its members suffers an unimaginable loss.

As the teams prepare for the upcoming encounter, the focus will extend beyond the result. For De Miguel’s family, the support offered by Almería represents a reminder that the football world is standing with them as they face life without their loved one.
