Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly set to receive approximately R1.6 million each from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following their elimination from their respective continental competitions.

The two South African clubs were knocked out on Friday night, ending their hopes of progressing further and competing for continental titles. Despite their exits, the reported payments offer some financial compensation for their participation.

Kaizer Chiefs Suffer Continental Setback

For Kaizer Chiefs, the elimination is a disappointment for a club whose supporters were hoping to see the team make a deeper run in African football.

Amakhosi have been working to improve their performances and re-establish themselves among the continent's competitive clubs. However, their latest campaign ended earlier than anticipated.

The reported CAF payment provides some financial relief, even though it cannot replace the disappointment of missing out on further progress in the tournament.

Sundowns Also Receive Financial Compensation

Mamelodi Sundowns have also reportedly secured a payment of approximately R1.6 million despite their exit from their respective competition.

The Tshwane-based club has built a strong reputation in African football, and expectations are often high whenever it competes on the continental stage.

Nevertheless, the reported payment means the club could still receive financial benefits from its participation despite failing to advance further.
