Magesi FC goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has shared an interesting piece of advice with fellow Betway Premiership footballers on how they can repeatedly walk away with the lucrative R100 000 Carling Knockout Man of the Match prize.

The Zimbabwean shot-stopper has become one of the biggest talking points in South African football, particularly because of his remarkable performances in the Carling Knockout competition. His ability to produce important saves, organise his defence and remain focused under pressure has made him a popular figure among football supporters.

While many players dream of collecting the prestigious individual award, Chipezeze's performances have demonstrated that consistency, preparation and commitment can make a significant difference.

The Magesi captain understands that winning the award is not simply about having a good moment during a match. Players must be prepared to influence proceedings, demonstrate their quality and give supporters a reason to recognise their contribution.

His advice comes after he established himself as a standout performer in the competition, earning multiple Man of the Match awards and collecting substantial prize money along the way.

One of the biggest lessons from Chipezeze's journey is the importance of analysing individual performances and identifying areas that need improvement.

The goalkeeper has previously admitted that he made mistakes throughout his career but chose to study his performances and work on his weaknesses rather than become discouraged.

He also emphasised the importance of hard work and consistency, explaining that individual recognition should come as a reward for contributing to the team's success.

His record in the competition makes his advice particularly valuable. During the 2025 edition, Chipezeze collected his sixth consecutive Carling Knockout Man of the Match award despite Magesi losing 2-1 to Orlando Pirates in the quarter-finals.

That achievement took his accumulated prize money to R600 000 from six awards across the two editions.

However, there is another important element players should understand: the award is decided through supporters' votes. This means footballers must not only perform well but also make meaningful contributions that supporters appreciate.

Chipezeze has repeatedly acknowledged the supporters who travel to stadiums, spend their hard-earned money and encourage their teams. He believes players have a responsibility to reward that loyalty with committed performances.

His story is particularly encouraging for younger Betway Premiership players hoping to establish themselves and earn individual recognition.
