Ouaddou Explains Why Sebastian Pedersen Is Struggling for Game Time at Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has addressed the situation surrounding new striker Sebastian Pedersen, whose limited playing time has attracted attention from supporters eager to see the forward make a bigger impact at the Soweto giants.

Pedersen joined the Buccaneers with expectations of strengthening their attacking department and providing additional firepower as the club competes for domestic and continental honours. However, his opportunities on the pitch have so far been limited, raising questions about his position in Ouaddou’s plans.

The coach faces the challenge of managing a competitive squad while ensuring that every player receives opportunities when they are ready to contribute. At a club with ambitions of challenging for major trophies, selecting the right players for each match remains crucial.

Competition for attacking positions is another factor that could influence Pedersen’s involvement. Pirates have several options in their forward line, meaning the new striker must demonstrate his quality in training and make the most of the opportunities presented to him.

Joining a new club also requires adjustment. Pedersen must become familiar with his teammates, understand Ouaddou’s tactical expectations and adapt to the demands of South African football. These factors can influence how quickly a new signing establishes himself in the starting lineup.

For Pirates, the striker’s development could prove important as the season progresses. His ability to score goals, link up with teammates, press opponents and create space in the final third could provide the team with valuable attacking alternatives.

Supporters will be hoping to see Pedersen receive more minutes as he continues adapting to his new environment. However, earning a regular place will ultimately depend on his performances and the coach’s assessment of what the team needs.

For now, Pedersen must remain patient, work hard and seize his chances whenever they arrive. With Pirates pursuing success on multiple fronts, his contribution could become increasingly important in the months ahead.
