Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has backed Tshepang Moremi to earn another opportunity with Bafana Bafana following his impressive performance in the Carling Knockout Cup.
The 26-year-old winger was instrumental in Pirates' 3-0 victory over Milford FC in their last-16 encounter at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday night.
Moremi contributed two goals and an assist, helping the defending champions secure qualification for the quarter-finals. He set up Thapelo Mokobodi for the opening goal before scoring twice in the first half.
His latest contribution takes his goal tally to seven across all competitions this season, further highlighting his importance to the Buccaneers.
Speaking after the match, Ouaddou praised the winger's commitment, work rate and determination, saying his performances consistently demonstrate his willingness to fight for the team.
The Pirates coach also expressed hope that Moremi would soon return to the national team, describing him as an important player for South African football.
Moremi was recently part of the Bafana Bafana setup but did not receive playing time in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea and Eritrea. He had previously featured in the international friendly against Egypt.
Ouaddou admitted that the situation was frustrating, believing the winger has the qualities to make a meaningful contribution at international level.
Moremi will now be looking to maintain his scoring form at club level as he pushes for greater recognition and another opportunity to represent South Africa.
