Former Pirates Star Edges Closer to Leaving His Current Club

Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns forward Thembinkosi Lorch could be heading towards another major career move as uncertainty continues to surround his future with Libyan outfit Al-Ittihad Tripoli.

The 33-year-old South African international is reportedly approaching a possible mutual termination of his contract with the North African club after finding it difficult to establish himself as a regular member of the team.

According to reports emerging from Libya, Lorch has been left out of Al-Ittihad Tripoli's recent matchday squads under head coach Faouzi Benzarti. His continued absence has fuelled speculation about his future, with the possibility of an early departure increasingly gaining attention.

Lorch joined the Libyan side hoping to play an important role in the team's plans, but his situation has reportedly taken an unexpected turn. Should both parties reach an agreement to end his contract, the former Bafana Bafana attacker could become a free agent ahead of the next transfer window.

There have also been reports linking him with a possible move to Morocco. Moroccan champions MAS Fès were previously interested in securing his services, but negotiations reportedly broke down after the parties failed to agree on personal terms.

Despite that disappointment, Lorch is believed to remain on the radar of several clubs in North Africa. Teams from Egypt and Algeria have reportedly emerged as potential destinations, although no official agreement has been reached with any interested club.

His next career decision will attract considerable interest, particularly because his experience, creativity and attacking qualities could make him an attractive option for teams looking to strengthen their forward departments.

Meanwhile, developments surrounding his future could also revive speculation about a return to South African football and the Betway Premiership. Kaizer Chiefs have previously been linked with the former Bafana Bafana international, although there is currently no confirmed agreement between the player and the Soweto giants.

A possible return to Orlando Pirates could equally generate excitement among the club's supporters, considering the impact he made during his previous spell with the Buccaneers. Lorch became a fan favourite at the Soweto club through his technical ability, creativity and impressive contributions in important matches.

However, whether he chooses to return to South Africa or continue his career elsewhere remains uncertain.

For now, the immediate priority for the experienced attacker will be resolving his contractual situation with Al-Ittihad Tripoli. Reaching a mutual agreement with the Libyan club would allow him to explore other opportunities and decide on the best destination for the next stage of his career.

With potential interest reportedly emerging from different countries, the coming weeks could prove crucial in determining where Lorch will continue his football journey.
