Agent Drops Major Hint On Tylo Sanger’s Future As Orlando Pirates And Sundowns Circle
South African football agent Mike Makaab has offered an encouraging assessment of Durban City midfielder Tylo Sanger’s future, highlighting the young player’s enormous potential after overcoming a difficult period caused by injuries.
Sanger has emerged as one of the exciting midfield prospects in the Betway Premiership, with his performances reportedly attracting attention from some of the country’s biggest clubs, including Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 22-year-old’s progress has been particularly impressive considering the challenges he faced earlier in his career. According to Makaab, Sanger was regarded as an exceptionally talented youngster whose future looked extremely promising before injuries interrupted his development.
Speaking to KickOff, the experienced agent reflected on the midfielder’s journey and explained why his recovery and return to competitive football are particularly satisfying.
“Tylo is a typical case of a young player who is extremely talented, he had an incredibly bright future in his teens, unfortunately he got injured,” Makaab told KickOff.
His comments offer an important glimpse into the story behind Sanger’s recent rise. Rather than simply focusing on his current performances, Makaab has highlighted the determination required to overcome setbacks and return to the level where major clubs are reportedly monitoring his progress.
Sanger joined Durban City ahead of the 2026/27 campaign after previously featuring for Cape Town Spurs. His move has provided him with an opportunity to establish himself in the top flight, and he has taken advantage of it.
His performances have reportedly placed him on the recruitment radar of both Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
A report by FARPost in September indicated that Sundowns were exploring the possibility of signing the midfielder, while Pirates had also been linked with an interest. However, no agreement between the player and either club had been confirmed.
Sundowns were reportedly considering a potential arrangement that could allow Sanger to return to Durban City on loan, giving him further opportunities to develop.
Sanger’s journey is also attracting attention because of how far he has come. Reports indicate that he was close to giving up on football during a difficult period when injuries threatened his career.
However, his return to regular football has changed the picture, with the midfielder now getting valuable opportunities at Durban City.
Makaab’s comments suggest that Sanger’s talent has never been in doubt, although his development was interrupted by circumstances beyond his control.
The midfielder’s immediate priority will be to maintain his performances, continue improving and establish himself as one of the most consistent young players in the league.
With Pirates and Sundowns reportedly monitoring his situation, the coming months could prove important for his career.
