Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has expressed satisfaction with Sebastian Pedersen’s commitment, insisting that the striker is not far from becoming a regular starter for the Buccaneers.
Ouaddou has made it clear that he has no concerns about Pedersen’s attitude or dedication, but believes the forward must be given sufficient time to adapt before being thrown into the starting lineup on a consistent basis.
“There’s no issues with Sebastian, I’m happy with his commitment,” Ouaddou said, addressing the striker’s progress at the Soweto giants.
The coach explained that Pedersen is approaching the level required to start regularly, but highlighted the importance of allowing him to adjust fully to the demands of playing for Pirates.
One of the factors under consideration is altitude, which can affect players’ physical performance and recovery, particularly when competing in different locations across South Africa.
Ouaddou appears keen to ensure that Pedersen is physically and tactically prepared before increasing his responsibilities on the pitch. Rather than rushing the striker into action, the Pirates coach wants him to settle into the team and become accustomed to the demands of the club’s playing environment.
Pedersen’s situation will be closely watched by Pirates supporters, who will be eager to see whether he can earn more minutes and establish himself as a key attacking option.
Competition for places at a club such as Orlando Pirates can be intense, with players required to demonstrate consistency, fitness and an understanding of the coach’s tactical approach.
The coach’s comments suggest that Pedersen remains part of his plans, with his progress rather than any reported disciplinary or commitment concerns determining the timing of a potential regular starting role.
For now, the striker will need to continue working towards full adaptation as Pirates pursue their objectives in domestic competitions.
Ouaddou’s remarks offer encouragement to Pedersen, indicating that a starting opportunity could be within reach once the coaching staff are satisfied that he is ready for the challenge.
