Ancelotti Explains Why Brazil’s Experienced Stars Were Left Out

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has opted for a younger-looking squad for the national team’s November international friendlies, leaving several established players out as he continues to assess his options ahead of future competitions.

The Seleção are scheduled to face Japan and Singapore during the international break, with Ancelotti using the matches to give emerging talents an opportunity to impress.

Among the notable absentees are goalkeeper Alisson Becker, defender Eder Militao and Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha. While Cunha’s omission follows a difficult spell in the Premier League, Ancelotti explained that some experienced players were left out because the coaching team already knows what they can offer.

Speaking about Alisson, the Italian coach said there was no need to test the Liverpool goalkeeper again because his quality was already established.

“We don’t need to test Alisson, we know him very well. He is the best goalkeeper. When the Copa America begins, he will be called up, and it’s the same for the others,” Ancelotti said, according to Liverpool’s official website.

He added that the current period was an opportunity to refresh the squad, observe younger footballers and help them develop their potential.

The selection includes a mixture of emerging players and familiar names from major European clubs. Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, Barcelona winger Raphinha and Chelsea youngster Estevao are among those included.

Brazil’s goalkeeping options are Bento of Al Nassr, Lucas Perri of Torino and Pedro Morisco of Coritiba.

The defensive group features Arthur Dias, Carlos Augusto, Douglas Santos, Gabriel Magalhaes, Jair Cunha, Jonathan Jesus, Vanderson, Vitor Reis, Wesley and Andre.

In midfield, Ancelotti selected Andrey Santos, Danilo, Gabriel Bontempo, Joao Gomes, Marlon Gomes and Alisson Santana.

The attacking options include Allan, Endrick, Estevao, Raphinha, Rayan and Vinicius Junior.

Although the absence of established figures has attracted attention, Ancelotti’s explanation suggests that the selection is part of a broader assessment rather than a permanent decision to exclude experienced players.

The November fixtures will give the younger members of the squad an opportunity to demonstrate what they can contribute to Brazil’s plans.
