In a remarkable display of football unity and cross-border solidarity, South African football fans have raised over R40,000 ($2,400) to fly a passionate Nigerian superfan to Johannesburg for the legendary Soweto Derby. Miracle Ebubechi Michael, popularly known online as "Mimi" or "Anoda Mirakle," is a devoted follower of Orlando Pirates F.C. whose intense love for the club captured the hearts of local soccer enthusiasts. Organized by prominent Orlando Pirates supporters and backed by the club's Supporters Forum, the crowdfunding initiative drew unexpected contributions not just from the Buccaneers' faithful, but also from rival Kaizer Chiefs F.C. and Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. fans in a heartwarming demonstration of the African spirit of Ubuntu.

The highly anticipated match, scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the iconic FNB Stadium, completely sold out its 90,000-plus capacity in a mere eight hours. Thanks to the generosity of the public, Mimi’s dream trip will cover her travel expenses, while the Zodwa Khoza Foundation has stepped forward to provide free accommodation during her stay in Soweto. Adding a layer of playful tension to one of Africa's biggest sporting rivalries, the unyielding Nigerian fan confidently vowed on South Africa's national broadcaster, SABC, that if the Amakhosi manage to beat her beloved Pirates, she will walk all the way back to Nigeria on foot
