Stellenbosch head coach Gavin Hunt has highlighted the challenge awaiting his team against Durban City ahead of their Carling Knockout Cup Last 16 clash, warning that playing in Chatsworth is far from easy.
Speaking ahead of the match scheduled for tonight, Hunt acknowledged Durban City's strength and their record at the venue while insisting that both sides have an equal opportunity to progress to the next round.
“They’ve got a lot of power, a lot of strength, and generally their record’s been good at Chatsworth, so it’s not easy to go there, that’s for sure,” Hunt said.
His comments underline the difficulty Stellenbosch could face in a knockout encounter where one result will determine which team advances. Durban City's physical strength and performances at Chatsworth are clearly factors the Stellenbosch coach believes his players must take seriously.
However, Hunt has not written off his own team's chances. By describing the contest as an even one, he has made it clear that Stellenbosch have an opportunity to secure progression if they deliver the required performance.
The Carling Knockout Cup Last 16 fixture raises the stakes for both teams, with each side looking to keep its cup ambitions alive. In a match of this nature, there is little room for mistakes, and the ability to handle pressure could prove crucial.
