Siwelele FC head coach Godfrey Mosoetsa has confirmed that Happy Mashiane is still waiting to complete his move to the club and will not be available for their upcoming clash against his former side, Kaizer Chiefs.
The 28-year-old left-back is currently a free agent after leaving Amakhosi. He has returned to Siwelele, where he spent last season on loan, as he looks to find a new home and get his professional career back on track.
Mashiane previously had an opportunity to gain regular playing time at the club during his loan spell. His return could give him another chance to establish himself and contribute to the team's plans for the current campaign.
However, despite being involved in training with the first team, his future at the club has not yet been officially confirmed. The defender still needs to sign a contract and complete the necessary registration process before he can be considered for selection.
This means he will not be available when Siwelele meet Kaizer Chiefs, the club where he spent several years after coming through their development structures.
Mosoetsa has now addressed the situation, explaining that the club is working behind the scenes to resolve the outstanding administrative matters. The coach also indicated that Mashiane has continued to work hard in training despite not having completed his move.
"At the moment, there are still certain administrative issues, but he is still working hard, it's things being on outside the four walls," Mosoetsa said.
"But he is still training, he hasn't been signed yet so he's not available but it's things being sorted out administratively."
The coach's explanation suggests that the club remains interested in securing Mashiane's services, although there are still matters that need to be finalised before an official announcement can be made.
For the player, the situation is an opportunity to return to a familiar environment and compete for a place in the team. However, he will first need to wait for the administrative process to be completed before he can make his competitive return.
Mashiane spent an important part of his career at Kaizer Chiefs after progressing from the club's academy into the senior team. He made 69 appearances for Amakhosi across competitions, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
During his time at Naturena, he gained experience at the highest level of South African football and was given opportunities to represent one of the country's biggest clubs.
His possible return to Siwelele therefore represents another chapter in his career after leaving Chiefs. Having already spent last season at the club on loan, he will be hoping to settle quickly once his future is officially resolved.
For now, Siwelele supporters will have to wait for further confirmation from the club regarding the defender's registration. What is clear is that Mashiane is training with the team but cannot feature in competitive matches until his contract and registration have been completed.
