Wandile Duba, a youthful attacker, has the potential to grow into a player who can represent South Africa at the senior international level, according to Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando da Cruz.
Duba's performances for Amakhosi have continued to garner attention, and Da Cruz is inspired by the young man's development. But if the talented forward is to realise his full potential, the coach has emphasised that increased consistency will be essential.
"I'm thrilled for Duba; as a young player, he experiences many highs and lows. "He needs to be more consistent," Da Cruz said.
The French tactician thinks Duba has what it takes to advance, but he also recognises that playing consistently at a top level is still crucial to his growth.
Duba's rise could provide coach Hugo Broos with an additional attacking option in the future, as Bafana Bafana is always trying to develop a solid pool of youthful talent.
Helping the 21-year-old establish himself at the club level is still the key priority for the time being. Da Cruz's remarks highlight the Chiefs team's conviction that Duba has the potential to succeed outside of domestic football and eventually gain attention on a global scale.
The young player from the Chiefs might put himself firmly in the running for a spot in the Bafana Bafana system if he can translate his encouraging performances into reliable performances.
