FOOTBALL BOMBSHELL! Doctor Khumalo Breaks Silence After Major SAFA Appointment

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — 22 OCTOBER 2026

South African football legend Doctor Khumalo has spoken out following his high-profile appointment as Vice-Chairperson of the South African Football Association (SAFA) Technical Committee, marking a significant development in his continued involvement in the country's football administration.

The former Bafana Bafana international and Kaizer Chiefs icon is widely recognised for his contribution to South African football, both during his playing career and through his continued presence in the game. His latest appointment places him in a position connected to technical planning, football development and discussions about the future direction of the national game.

Khumalo's appointment has attracted attention among football followers, particularly because of his experience at the highest level of the sport and his longstanding association with South African football.

Rather than viewing the new responsibility as a personal achievement alone, Khumalo has reportedly emphasised the importance of contributing to the broader development of the game and creating more opportunities for former professional players to participate in football leadership.
