Kaizer Chiefs Plot Major Shake-Up As Manqoba Mngqithi And Thembinkosi Lorch Rumours Emerge

Kaizer Chiefs could be preparing for a significant transformation at Naturena, with fresh reports linking experienced South African coach Manqoba Mngqithi to the Soweto giants, while Thembinkosi Lorch has reportedly emerged as another potential target.

The latest developments have generated considerable discussion among Amakhosi supporters, particularly because they could have implications for the future of current head coach Fernando Da Cruz.

According to a report published by Sports With Daily News on Thursday, 5 November 2026, a source close to the Kaizer Chiefs camp claims that the club could be exploring the possibility of bringing Mngqithi to Naturena.

The report suggests that discussions surrounding the club's future sporting direction have taken place, with Kaizer Motaung Jr reportedly involved in conversations with the experienced tactician.

Although the claims have not been independently confirmed, the possibility of Mngqithi joining Chiefs has naturally attracted attention because of his extensive experience in South African football.

One of the biggest questions surrounding the latest reports concerns the position of Fernando Da Cruz.

The French tactician was appointed to lead Amakhosi with the responsibility of rebuilding the team and restoring the club's competitiveness.

However, Chiefs have experienced difficult moments during the campaign, including their disappointing CAF Confederation Cup exit and recent Soweto Derby defeat against Orlando Pirates.

These results have increased pressure on the technical team, with supporters demanding greater consistency and improved performances.

The latest report suggests that Mngqithi's possible arrival could influence the club's technical direction and potentially affect Da Cruz's position.

Nevertheless, there has been no official announcement indicating that Da Cruz is leaving Kaizer Chiefs.

It is also important to remember that Kaizer Motaung Jr previously dismissed reports linking Mngqithi with the Chiefs coaching position as completely false on 27 October.

Furthermore, the club has continued to back Da Cruz publicly, meaning supporters should be cautious about treating the latest speculation as confirmation of an imminent coaching change.

Interestingly, the latest report also connects Mngqithi with the recruitment of Elias Mokwana.

According to the publication's unnamed source, Mokwana was among the players identified as a potential addition under the proposed sporting plans associated with Mngqithi.

However, Mokwana's transfer to Naturena is no longer speculation.

Kaizer Chiefs officially announced the signing of the 27-year-old Bafana Bafana international on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.

The former Sekhukhune United winger joined Amakhosi after ending his association with Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

He also spent the previous season on loan at Saudi Arabian club Al-Hazem, gaining valuable experience in the Middle East.

Mokwana's arrival is expected to strengthen Chiefs' attacking options, particularly because of his pace, direct running and ability to create opportunities from wide positions.

Head coach Da Cruz has already praised the winger's quality and international experience.

However, the coach explained that Mokwana would need time to integrate into the squad because he did not have a pre-season with the team.

This makes his signing an important development regardless of whether the reported discussions involving Mngqithi ever materialise.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the latest report is the mention of Thembinkosi Lorch.

The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has once again been linked with a possible return to South African football.

Lorch's future has become uncertain following reports that he is experiencing registration difficulties at Libyan club Al-Ittihad Tripoli.

The club's foreign-player quota has reportedly affected his first-team involvement, with reports suggesting that discussions about a possible mutual separation could take place.

If an agreement is reached, Lorch could become a free agent and potentially consider offers from interested clubs.

His experience and attacking creativity could make him an attractive option for several PSL teams.

For Kaizer Chiefs, acquiring a player with Lorch's technical ability could provide additional quality in the attacking department.

However, there is currently no official confirmation that Amakhosi have submitted an offer, reached an agreement or opened formal negotiations with the player.

His possible arrival should therefore remain a transfer rumour rather than an established development.

The possibility of Mngqithi joining Chiefs, combined with the confirmed arrival of Mokwana and speculation surrounding Lorch, has created an interesting discussion about the club's ambitions.

Mngqithi has considerable experience in the Betway Premiership, having worked with Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows.

His knowledge of local football, tactical understanding and experience developing players would make him an interesting candidate for any club considering a change in technical leadership.

However, Chiefs must carefully consider the consequences of any major restructuring, particularly when it involves an existing coaching department and a squad that is still adjusting to a different football philosophy.

For now, the confirmed development is Mokwana's arrival, while the Mngqithi and Lorch stories remain unconfirmed.
