Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz has revealed that the club is dealing with a growing injury crisis, with five players currently sidelined, despite remaining positive about the team's performances.

The French coach disclosed that goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner missed the CAF Confederation Cup clash against Red Arrows after sustaining a finger injury just a day before the match.

Leaner’s absence presented another challenge for Amakhosi as they continue competing in continental football while managing fitness concerns within the squad.

Speaking about the team's current situation, Da Cruz acknowledged the number of injured players but insisted that the overall performances remained encouraging.

“When you see our team today, we have five players injured, and when you look at the performance of the team, it’s very positive,” Da Cruz said.

His comments highlight the coaching staff's confidence in the squad's ability to remain competitive despite the absence of several players.

Having multiple players unavailable can create selection challenges, particularly when a team is balancing domestic commitments with continental competitions.

For Kaizer Chiefs, maintaining consistency while managing injuries will be crucial as the season progresses. The situation also provides an opportunity for available players to step up and demonstrate their value to the team.

Leaner’s finger injury adds to the club's immediate concerns, although further information regarding his recovery timeline was not provided.

Despite the injury setbacks, Da Cruz's assessment suggests that the technical team remains encouraged by what the players are producing on the pitch.

Chiefs supporters will be hoping that the injured players recover soon and that the team can maintain its positive performances as it pursues its objectives in the CAF Confederation Cup and domestic competitions.

For now, the priority will be managing the available squad effectively while awaiting the return of those sidelined.
