What is the reason behind Barcelona and Aston Villa’s black armbands?

Both Barcelona and Aston Villa players are wearing black armbands to honor Tenerife striker De Miguel, who tragically passed away at the age of 30 after sustaining head and chest injuries during a match against FC Andorra on Monday.

The forward was involved in a serious collision with opposing goalkeeper Jesus Owono, who received a straight red card for the foul.

In the game’s dying moments, a long pass was played forward, which led to De Miguel being struck by the approaching Owono just beyond the halfway line.

Many players were left in tears while others displayed visible distress as De Miguel lay motionless on the pitch.
