Arsenal Lead Race for Kenan Yildiz as Juventus Set €150M Asking Price

Arsenal has emerged as the leading contender to sign Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, with the Italian club setting an asking price of approximately €150 million (£128 million) for the Turkey international, according to reports in Italian and British media. The team managed by Mikel Arteta exited the summer transfer window without bringing in a new wide attacking player, having missed out on targets such as Vinicius Junior and Morgan Rogers.

Juventus Financial Pressures and the €150 Million Valuation

The evaluation comes from Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who noted that any potential sale of the 21-year-old would command a massive triple-figure fee closer to €150 million than earlier estimates of €110 million to €120 million. Juventus faces significant financial pressure after missing out on the Champions League this season and sitting eighth in Serie A, with the Turin club expected to raise between €70 million and €80 million through player sales next summer according to TEAMtalk.

Despite these financial hurdles, Juventus protected its prized asset in February by signing him to a lucrative contract extension running through June 30, 2030, which bumped his base salary from €1.7M to €6M, for to reach €7M plus bonus next season. Manager Luciano Spalletti, whose own contract runs until 2028, has built his sporting project around the young attacker. Gianluca Di Marzio noted the arrival of Bosnian winger Kerim Alajbegović from Bayer Leverkusen in August for a fee reaching €40 million as a possible long-term successor.

Arsenal Interest and Transfer Market Precedent

FootballTransfers noted that Yildiz holds an Estimated Transfer Value range between €77.3M – €94.4M, and Di Marzio indicated that matching Juventus’s demands would require breaking Arsenal’s club record transfer fee. Mikel Arteta and his management team would inevitably attempt to negotiate a lower fee given the valuation.

That record currently stands at the £105 million paid to West Ham United for Declan Rice in July 2023. A €150 million deal equates to roughly £128 million at current exchange rates, surpassing the Rice benchmark by over £20 million. By comparison, Arsenal’s largest investment of the previous summer window was the acquisition of Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting for 55 M£ garantis, pouvant monter à 63,5 M£ avec les bonus.

Injury Status and European Competition

Yildiz managed 11 goals and 10 passes leading to scores across 47 appearances in all competitions last season, though his campaign has been hampered by a metatarsal fracture that sidelined him and leaves him unavailable until December.

While Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur made preliminary inquiries during the previous summer window that reached nine figures, Juventus refused to entertain negotiations. Real Madrid is also monitoring the situation and is reportedly eyeing a move for the forward in 2027, potentially setting up a high-stakes bidding war between the Premier League side and the Spanish champions. Describing the evaluation, Di Marzio stated: The next €100m-plus young star – or rather, a player well past the €100m mark – has to be Yildiz.
