Manchester United have reportedly decided to retain Michael Carrick as manager despite mounting pressure over the club's poor run of results.
The 45-year-old's future has come under increasing scrutiny following United's humiliating 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday, which extended their winless run to eight matches across all competitions.
The defeat left United 16th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone, raising fresh concerns over the club's performances this season.
According to reports, United chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox held discussions on Monday to assess the team's struggles and Carrick's future.
However, the club's hierarchy has reportedly opted against making an immediate managerial change, allowing Carrick to continue in his role as efforts intensify to reverse United's disappointing form.
The former United midfielder returned to the club's Carrington training ground on Tuesday to oversee preparations as the team looks to recover from its recent setbacks.
Pressure on Carrick intensified following United's 4-1 defeat to Italian side Como in the UEFA Champions League, which was followed by another disappointing performance against Bournemouth.
His decision to leave captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench against Bournemouth also attracted attention, coming days after the Portuguese midfielder publicly questioned the team's tactical approach following the defeat in Italy.
Carrick maintained that Fernandes' omission was a footballing decision rather than a disciplinary measure.
The former England international initially took charge in January 2026 following Ruben Amorim's departure and guided United to a third-place Premier League finish, securing Champions League qualification.
His impressive results earned him a contract extension until 2028, but United's struggles this season have raised questions about his ability to restore consistency to the team.
Despite growing speculation surrounding his position, the club's leadership appears willing to give Carrick more time to improve results, although uncertainty remains over his long-term future.
United will be hoping for a swift turnaround as they attempt to climb the Premier League table and revive their campaign.
