PETER SCHMEICHEL criticized Lisandro Martinez following Manchester United’s defeat to Chelsea.
The Argentine defender paired with Harry Maguire in the Red Devils’ defense as Michael Carrick sought to steer the team out of their disappointing season.
United faced more misery, conceding first before Martinez’s strange error led to him giving away a penalty and receiving a second yellow card, eliminating his team from the match.
Martinez had already been shown a yellow card just minutes earlier when he lunged at Wesley Fofana in the box, leading with his forearm and striking the Frenchman’s face.
VAR awarded the penalty whilst ‘The Butcher’ received his second yellow card and was dismissed.
Schmeichel was deeply frustrated with Martinez’s actions and struggled to convey the extent of his anger.

He remarked: “I place the blame entirely on Lisandro Martinez, as his performance today was an utter disgrace.
“Only two weeks ago, he made strong comments about his teammates and the football club, indicating he was attempting to prompt a transfer.
“With his contract nearing its end, what he did today leaves me utterly speechless.”
Martinez’s remarks came under fire after United’s Champions League defeat to Atletico in October when he criticized the club’s recruitment, particularly targeting technical director Jason Wilcox.

After the disappointing loss, he stated, “This reflects the current state of our club” and urged management to “sign more players to strengthen competition.”
However, Martinez did not help his case on Saturday as record Chelsea signing Morgan Rogers sliced through the defense and elegantly finished over Senne Lammens.
Schmeichel added: “Regarding the first goal… a player who has been in a World Cup final should not defend like that.
“As for the penalty… it’s beyond words. I literally cannot comprehend how that happened.
“And then he exits the pitch shaking his head as if he has done nothing wrong. It’s disgraceful.”
Carrick, visibly displeased, did not acknowledge Martinez as he made his way down the tunnel.
