FC Barcelona midfielder Pedri expressed visible frustration during the first half of his side’s UEFA Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain, openly reacting to a technical breakdown in build-up play that led directly to Désiré Doué’s opening goal, Mundo Deportivo reported.
The incident occurred in the 35th minute of the third-round group stage fixture at the Parc des Princes. Pedri recovered possession deep in Barcelona’s half during a French attacking press and immediately laid the ball off to Pau Cubarsí inside the penalty area. Cubarsí then transferred the ball to Gerard Martín on the left side of the defense.
Martín faced two primary passing lanes: an open central outlet to Marc Bernal—who stood completely unmarked and called for the ball to restart the attack—or an alternate pass to João Cancelo on the left flank. After a brief exchange where Cancelo returned the ball to Martín and Martín fed it back to Cubarsí, Barcelona attempted to launch an offensive sequence through Xavi Espart.
Espart combined cleanly with Lamine Yamal, but upon trying to progress further up the pitch, he redirected the ball backward toward Rocafonda. A subsequent lofted clearance attempt by the defense was intercepted by a PSG player. Doué collected the loose ball and struck a decisive shot past the goalkeeper to score the opening goal, setting the tone for a 4-2 defeat.
Television and press cameras captured Pedri’s immediate reaction to the defensive turnover. The Canary Islands-born midfielder made ostensible gestures of discontent, directing his frustration toward teammates for bypassing Marc Bernal. According to match analysis from Mundo Deportivo, Bernal represented the safest and most logical outlet for breaking the Parisian press during that sequence.
