Young Africans have terminated South African coach Manqoba Mngqithi’s contract and also ended their agreement with first-team conditioning coach Chyna Mokaila, the Tanzanian club announced on Saturday, 24 October.

In a statement published on its official X account, the club said management had decided to end both contracts. It thanked the two coaches for their contributions and wished them well in their future work.

Young Africans said an urgent process to find a new head coach had already begun and was expected to be completed soon. The statement did not identify a replacement or give a reason for the decisions.

The announcement followed a goalless draw against TRA United in the Tanzanian Premier League earlier on Saturday. The club’s official full-time update confirmed the 0–0 result, but its later statement did not attribute the coaching changes to that match.

Mngqithi, a former Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows coach, joined Young Africans in July, according to FARPost’s reporting.

Saturday’s change came three days after Young Africans secured their place in the CAF Champions League group stage. CAF confirmed that the team beat Madagascar’s CFFA 4–1 at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, 21 October, completing an 8–1 aggregate victory.

Young Africans had won the first leg 4–0 at the same venue. CAF said the clubs had agreed to play both matches in Dar es Salaam.

That result made Young Africans the first team to qualify for the 2026–27 group stage, their fourth consecutive appearance in that phase. CAF said the group matches were scheduled to begin in November.
