Nasarawa United Extend Winning Run with 1-0 Enyimba Victory

Nasarawa United coach Mangut Mbwas has commended his squad’s discipline after the Solid Miners beat former Nigerian champions Enyimba 1-0, extending their winning run to four matches in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Key takeaways

  • Jofrank Joshua’s 23rd-minute strike decided the Matchday 10 contest in Lafia.
  • Nasarawa United moved into third place on 17 points from 10 fixtures.
  • Rivers United, Rangers International and Nasarawa are separated only by goal difference at the top.
  • The Solid Miners have kept five straight clean sheets.
  • Their next league trip is against Kano Pillars on November 1.

Joshua goal seals Enyimba win

Joshua struck in the 23rd minute at Lafia City Stadium on Sunday, October 25, as Nasarawa claimed all three points from their home meeting with Enyimba.

The result took the hosts to 17 points after 10 games, placing them third in the NPFL standings. They are level on points with table-topping Rivers United and second-placed Rangers International, with goal difference determining the order between the three sides.

Mbwas felt his team had opportunities to make the scoreline more emphatic, although he emphasised that the win mattered most.

“We could have scored more, but getting the three points is the most important thing,” he said.

Clean-sheet streak and Kano Pillars test

The Nasarawa boss also pointed to the team’s progress without the ball. The Enyimba victory marked a fifth consecutive match in which the Solid Miners have not conceded.

“We are improving gradually. We are defending properly and attacking properly as well. That is five successive clean sheets,” Mangut said.

Nasarawa have now taken 12 points from their past four league outings, while their return across the last five matches stands at 13 points, reinforcing their credentials among the challengers for the title.

Mbwas said his players will carry the same focus into their next fixture, an away match against Kano Pillars at Kano’s Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday, November 1.

“They beat us both away and at home last season, but we have learned from those games. We will prepare and work towards that match,” he said.
